Yesterday afternoon (5/12/2026) 14 brothers gathered to serve about 80 guests at the Corpus Commons day shelter. The knights served the guests 120 cheeseburgers, 60 hot dogs, salads, chips and a beverage of their choice as long as it was water. I talked with Executive Director Jessica Abbott after the event and she informed me that for many of these guests, this is their only meal for the day. The brothers in attendance (see attached photos) were giving not only of their time, but of the lunch that had been promised to them. We served all the food that we brought and that which CC provided to the day shelter guests.
According to Jessica, with the re-location of the Interfaith Sanctuary, Corpus Commons has taken on a new role providing sleeping cots during the day for those guests that work at night. The cots were placed in the shelter recently purchased by CC with funds provided by the KofC. Brother Knights, I am grateful for your continued prayers, support, and generosity throughout the year as we work together to raise funds for those in need and support the charitable causes that make a difference in our community.
Your time, fellowship, and willingness to serve continue to reflect the true spirit of charity and brotherhood that make Holy Spirit Council #11548 strong.
Vivat Jesus,
Greg Assmus
