Today, the Treasure Valley Color Corps/Honor Guard had the privilege of attending the Rosary and Funeral Mass for Lady Knight Barbara Girard at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Boise.
Our Honor Guard—21 members strong—came together to honor and pay our respects to Lady Knight Barbara and to support her husband, our Worthy District Marshal and Brother Sir Knight Skip Girard. The performance delivered today was carried out with precision, dignity, and excellence—exactly as Brother Skip would have expected for his beloved wife.
The church was filled to capacity, with parishioners gathered not only in the sanctuary but also in the dining hall. The community, along with several priests and deacons from across the Treasure Valley, united in a beautiful expression of faith, support, and fraternity.
Despite the very tight quarters, the Color Corps/Honor Guard was asked to deliver a reverent and dignified performance, including the Posting of the Guard, Final Salute, and procession/recession routines. Our Worthy Deputy Color Corps Commander, Ernie Sirotek, did an outstanding job maintaining count, rank, and file as members arrived, reviewed routines, as we Posted and Rotated Guard positions so as to not disrupt the flow of the ceremony. Thank you, Brother Joe Cardona, for appointing Brother Ernie as Deputy Commander—his leadership was invaluable today.
The performance was truly exceptional and a fitting tribute to Lady Knight Barbara.
May she rest in peace.
